The Artist-in-Residence Program (or the Chef-in-Residence program at Union Green) supports emerging artists by providing housing and a platform to grow their craft while enriching our communities. Through artist-led events and creative experiences, we foster connections, inspire engagement, and enhance the resident experience.

About Chef Rashaad

Allow us to introduce Chef Rashaad Shears, the Chef-in-Residence at Union Green. He’s a classically trained chef with more than 20 years of culinary mastery. His journey spans countless cuisines and global influences, giving him a rare ability to fuse techniques, cultures, and traditions from all over the world. Chef Rashaad’s style brings together fresh ingredients, refined methods, and bold flavor profiles to create dishes that don’t just feed you—they move you.

For Chef Rashaad, cooking isn’t just a profession—it’s his heartbeat. Step into his kitchen and you’ll feel it instantly: the passion, the purpose, and the peace that come from a man who truly loves what he does. Every dish he creates carries that energy.

His formal culinary roots trace back to the Art Institute of Atlanta, where he trained classically and built the foundation that would launch his remarkable career. As Chef in Residence, Chef Rashaad will be bringing unique culinary experiences directly to Union Green residents—hosting 2–3 events every month designed to introduce new flavors, new techniques, and new stories behind the food he loves.
